Overview
Jambiani is a laid-back fishing village on Zanzibar's southeast coast, fronted by a long stretch of white sand and a tidal lagoon ideal for swimming at high tide. Unlike the busier north-coast resorts, Jambiani retains an authentic Swahili character — colourful dhows are hauled ashore each evening and villagers harvest seaweed in the shallows at low tide. The beach is particularly beautiful at sunrise, when golden light catches the wooden boats and the village mosque reflects in the still water.
