Overview
Pongwe is one of Zanzibar's most secluded beaches, a small and pristine cove on the northeast coast backed by dense coconut palms and facing a sheltered bay with exceptionally calm, clear water. The reef here is close to shore and in excellent health, making it outstanding for snorkelling directly from the beach. The area sees far fewer visitors than Nungwi or Kendwa, lending it a genuinely private and exclusive feel that appeals to discerning travellers.
