Overview
Uhuru Peak stands at 5,895 metres above sea level on the crater rim of Kibo, the highest summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and the highest point on the African continent. Reaching it is the goal of thousands of trekkers each year, who make the multi-day ascent through five distinct ecological zones from tropical rainforest to arctic glaciers. The summit offers an extraordinary panorama over Tanzania and Kenya, and the immense Kibo crater with its receding but still-present glaciers.
