Overview
The Hadza (Hadzabe) are one of the last remaining true hunter-gatherer peoples on earth, a small community of around 1,300 people living in the Lake Eyasi basin of Tanzania's Great Rift Valley. A morning spent with a Hadza family offers an extraordinarily rare window into a way of life essentially unchanged for tens of thousands of years — joining the men on a dawn bow-and-arrow hunt, gathering wild berries and tubers with the women, and eating around an open fire. Visits must be arranged through responsible operators to ensure the community benefits directly.
