Overview
Mto wa Mbu (River of Mosquitoes) is a unique Tanzanian village at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment near Lake Manyara, notable as the only village in Tanzania where all 120 tribes of the country are represented in its population. Community cultural tourism programs allow visitors to explore banana plantations, observe traditional brewing, learn about Maasai, Chagga, Hehe, and dozens of other tribal traditions, and cycle through irrigation channels that feed one of Tanzania's most productive agricultural areas. It is an ideal cultural stop between the Serengeti and Ngorongoro circuits.
