Overview
Tarangire National Park is famous for its enormous elephant herds — often the largest concentrations in East Africa during the dry season, when thousands of animals converge on the Tarangire River. The landscape is studded with giant baobab trees and open savannah. The park is also an outstanding birding destination with over 550 species recorded. Lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and eland are regularly spotted here.
