Overview
The Serengeti is Tanzania's most iconic national park, covering 14,763 km² of open grassland and acacia woodland. It is world-famous for hosting the annual Great Wildebeest Migration — over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra and gazelle move in a continuous circuit with the rains. The park shelters the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino) and is one of the best places on earth to witness predator action. The northern corridor around the Mara River delivers spectacular river crossings from July to October.
